Privacy Policy

In short
- This site runs on WordPress. Some cookies are functional: they keep our team signed in, and remember your details if you choose to save them when leaving a comment.
- We use Google and Meta measurement tools. Those set their own cookies and send data to those companies, not only to us.
- We receive personal information when you send one of our two forms or leave a comment on a post.
- We do not sell your information for money. Advertising tools can still count as “sharing” under California law, and there is an opt out below.
- The application where you actually build your documents is a separate system with its own privacy terms. This page covers the website you are reading.
Cookies
There are two kinds on this site, and they do very different things.
Functional. WordPress sets these. One keeps a member of our team signed in to the admin area. Another remembers the name and email you type on a comment, but only if you tick the box asking us to save them. Leave that box unticked and no comment cookie is set. None of these follow you to other websites.
Measurement and advertising. The Google and Meta tools described further down set their own cookies. They count visits, show us which pages people actually read, and measure whether our advertising works. These are read by Google and Meta, not only by us.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the functional ones only costs you convenience. Blocking the measurement ones changes nothing about what you can read or do here.
What the two forms collect
Two places on this site can send us information: the contact form and the partner application. Nothing else on the site transmits anything about you.
When you press send, we receive what you typed. The form software also records two things you did not type:
- your IP address
- your browser’s user agent string, which names your browser and operating system
Both are stored alongside the message. They are there so we can tell a real question from an automated flood, and that is the only use they get.
Your message is saved in this website’s database and emailed to [email protected]. We keep it for as long as it takes to answer you and to have a record of the conversation. Ask us to delete it and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Analytics and advertising
We use two measurement tools from other companies:
- A Google tag. Tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, how they arrived and roughly where in the world they are.
- A Meta pixel. Measures whether advertising we pay for on Facebook and Instagram actually brings anyone here.
Both send data to those companies: your IP address, the pages you look at, and an identifier stored in your browser. Google and Meta use that data under their own terms, which we do not control.
What we never send them: what you type into a form, the contents of any document, or anything at all from inside the application. Measurement stays on the marketing pages.
Server logs and backups
Like every website, this one runs on a server that records the requests it receives: IP address, time, page and browser string. That is ordinary server operation. It keeps the site running and lets us investigate abuse. Those logs sit with our hosting provider under its retention schedule.
The site is backed up regularly. Backups stay on the same server. They are not sent to an outside storage service.
What we do not do
Worth stating plainly rather than hedging:
- We do not sell your personal information for money.
- We do not send what you type into a form, or anything from your documents, to an analytics or advertising tool.
- We do not publish the email address you leave with a comment.
- We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you.
One honest caveat. Under California law, using advertising tools of the kind described above can count as sharing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even when no money changes hands. That is why the section below gives you a way out of it rather than claiming the question does not arise.
The application, the notary and the deed service
Building a Will or a Trust happens in our application at app.myestateangel.com. Notarization over video, and the preparation and recording of property deeds, are carried out by partner services.
Those are separate systems. They collect what the work requires, which for notarization includes a scan of your photo ID and answers to identity questions, and they operate under their own privacy terms. Read those before you start. This page does not cover them.
Your rights
Wherever in the United States you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, send you a copy of it, correct it, or delete it. Email [email protected] and say which one you want.
We will not charge you for asking and we will not treat you differently afterwards.
Opting out of advertising
California, and a growing number of other states, give you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising. Two ways to do it here:
- Email us at [email protected] and ask to opt out.
- Block or clear the Google and Meta cookies in your browser. That stops those tools recognizing you on this site.
Children
This website is for adults making decisions about their own estates. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through a form, email us and we will remove it.
When this page changes
The date at the top of this page updates by itself whenever the text is edited, so it can never drift away from what the page actually says.
If a change matters, adding analytics would be the obvious example, we will say what changed rather than quietly reword the paragraph.
Contact
Questions about anything on this page go to [email protected].
Comments on blog posts
If you leave a comment, we store the comment itself, the name and email you type, your IP address and your browser’s user agent string. WordPress records the last two by itself, and they exist so we can deal with spam.
Your email address is never published and we do not use it to send you anything.
Every comment is read before it appears, so yours will not go live straight away. One request: do not post details of your own estate, family or finances that you would not want to be public. If you want to discuss your situation, use the contact form instead.
Ask us to delete a comment and we will remove it along with the data stored with it.
